Ole Miss baseball series finale at Auburn delayed because of weather issues

Ole Miss baseball's series finale against Auburn will not begin at the designated time of 3 p.m., according to Auburn's official account on X, formerly Twitter.

"With lightning in the surrounding area, today's game will not begin at 3 p.m.," the statement reads. "We will provide updates as they become available."

Auburn later announced that first pitch is scheduled for 3:45 p.m.

Rules stipulate that a 30-minute delay must occur if lightning strikes within an eight-mile radius of Plainsman Park. With each new strike, the 30-minute delay resets.

Accuweather lists a chance of precipitation between 43 and 51% until 7 p.m. in Auburn. The same forecast predicts further thunderstorms at 6 p.m.

The Rebels (25-21, 9-14 SEC) have taken the first two games of the series. They outslugged the Tigers (21-24, 3-20) on Friday, 11-7, before riding an outstanding performance from their bullpen in a 5-4 win on Saturday.
