Oklahoma woman ran over husband with ATV, killing him, after he asked for divorce: police

In sickness and in health got a little messy for one Oklahoma couple.

Chanelle Lewis, 35, has been charged with killing her husband by running him over with an ATV after the two allegedly got into a fight about food, according to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office.

Lewis’ stepson, Christian Cornett, told KFOR that she and his father, Christopher Lewis, were at a campground when they started arguing over food before the fight escalated and Christopher said he wanted a divorce.

That’s when Lewis allegedly climbed into the ATV and aimed right at Christopher.

Cornett claims she also tried to hit him and his teenage sister, at which point he punched her in the face.

Her black eye is visible in the mugshot.

“He was a great man and would help anyone in need,” Cornett told the outlet about his father. “I have 1,000 brothers because he was a father figure to everyone.”

Lewis’ charges were upgraded from manslaughter to second-degree murder, KFOR reported Wednesday.
