The state medical examiner’s office reports that a teenager found along an Oklahoma highway last year died of multiple blunt force injuries, but the case largely remains a mystery.

Noah Presgrove, 19, was found dead along US-81 in Jefferson County on Labor Day in 2023.

According to multiple reports, Presgrove was found wearing only his shoes and was last seen alive at a party he attended with a group of friends.

Fox News Digital reports that the outlet obtained the autopsy results from the Presgrove family.

“In consideration of the circumstances surrounding the death, autopsy examination, and toxicology result, the death of Noah Alexander Nichols is due to multiple blunt force injuries,” the report says, according to Fox News Digital. The report also stated that there were no vehicle parts or debris observed on the scene.

The medical examiner marked the manner of Presgrove’s death as “undetermined," which means they could not decide if his death was a homicide, suicide, accident or natural.

"At this time, what transpired on how the body was found on the road having multiple blunt force injuries is unknown."

OHP not investigating as 'murder'

On Wednesday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol released a statement saying its detectives leading the investigation are not considering it “murder” at this time.

“Investigators have conducted numerous interviews and reviewed leads and evidence. Currently, the OHP is not investigating Presgrove’s death as a murder," the statement read. "The investigation is not over, and anyone with information on Presgrove’s death is encouraged to contact the Southwest Regional Communications Center at 580-353-0783.”

The investigation also revealed that Presgrove was at a house party and drinking on Sept. 3, 2023. After an ATV rollover, he returned to the party and got into an argument with his girlfriend, according to the report as cited by Fox News Digital.

Presgrove was not found until the morning of Sept. 4, 2023.

Relatives of Presgrove say the account doesn’t make sense.

Madison Rawlings, Presgrove’s sister, told Fox News Digital, "I’m not sure who the girl he is ‘supposedly’ arguing with. That is a question I reached out about with the medical examiner.”

The Oklahoman has reached out to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, which has taken over the investigation, for further comment.

In an obituary, Presgrove is described as a lifelong resident of Comanche, who had an outgoing personality and was spontaneous.

“And he was both a country boy, and a ladies man,” the obituary states. “He loved the outdoors, and anything to do with the water. He also loved skateboarding.

"Noah was a true friend to all who knew him. He was an accomplished athlete at Comanche High School, where he lettered in football, wrestling, cross country, and track. He attended Ray of Hope Church.”
