Oklahoma State women's tennis beats Michigan to win first ITA indoor national title

Oklahoma State has its first tennis national championship.

The third-ranked women’s tennis team claimed the ITA Indoor National Team Championship victory Monday, taking down No. 5 Michigan 5-3 in Seattle.

Redshirt sophomore Anastasiya Komar, the Cowgirls’ No. 1 singles player, sealed the victory with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Michigan’s Kari Miller.

OSU also picked up wins in No. 2 singles from Oby Kajuru and No. 6 singles from Kristina Novak.

The Cowgirls’ doubles teams of Komar and Kajuru along with Ayumi Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez each added victories to take the doubles point.

OSU, which made its first appearance in the ITA championship match, is 9-0 this spring. The Cowgirls have five wins over top-five programs, including two over the Wolverines.
