Alleged Oklahoma State frat beef results in dead longhorn on campus day before Big 12 game

Oklahoma State University's "Texas Hate Week" may have gone too far, students say, after the carcass of a longhorn cow was found on the lawn of an OSU fraternity Friday.

Social media posts Friday morning showed the carcass lying in the FarmHouse fraternity's front yard. The animal's stomach had been cut open, and the words "(expletive) FH" were written on its side, according to photos taken by staff of the OSU student newspaper, The O'Colly.

"Oklahoma State University is appalled at the disturbing display of animal cruelty that occurred overnight at an off-campus location near a fraternity house," the university said in a statement.

Some on social media say the act could be connected to the University of Texas Longhorns, who play OSU on Saturday, though most say a rivalry between the FarmHouse and the college's other agricultural fraternity, Alpha Gamma Rho, could be at play.

Stillwater police investigating dead longhorn found at OSU fraternity

Stillwater police spokesperson TJ Low told The Oklahoman officers were informed of the dead animal's presence just before 7 a.m. Friday. He said it has since been removed and police are investigating how long it has been dead and where it may have come from.

Police are also working with nearby houses to check security footage, and Low said anyone with information can contact police or use the anonymous tip line at 405-533-8477. The university's Office of Student Support and Conduct is also investigating the incident.

"This is a very unusual situation that's occurred," Low said "We've never had anything like this within our jurisdiction. It's a very cruel crime to be committed, especially right before the Big 12 Championship. Nothing is worth doing that kind of crap."

The Oklahoma State Cowboys will take on the University of Texas Longhorns in the Big 12 championship game on Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

OSU FarmHouse fraternity addresses dead longhorn found on lawn

The FarmHouse fraternity condemned the incident in a statement, and said no member of its fraternity was involved.

"As a chapter founded on principles driven by our agricultural roots, we're just as sickened and surprised by this incident as our peers on campus," the statement said. "It is disheartening to see the disregard for proper animal welfare and treatment displayed by this situation."
