Oklahoma State baseball falls to UCF in extra innings, setting up Big 12 elimination game

If the Oklahoma State baseball team is going to play for the Big 12 Tournament title, it will have to step on to Globe Life Field three times Friday in Arlington, Texas.

The second-seeded Cowboys lost 7-6 to UCF in 10 innings at nearly 1 a.m. Friday, dropping OSU into an elimination game against Texas Tech at about 4 p.m. Friday with the winner facing UCF immediately after in a semifinal.

The Cowboys (37-17) broke through first with a four-run first inning with an RBI single by Carson Benge, an RBI double by Aiden Meola, an RBI sacrifice fly by Colin Brueggemann and an RBI groundout by Lane Forsythe.

But the Knights (35-18) immediately answered with a four-run second inning, scoring twice on wild pitches.

Benge put OSU back ahead in the fifth inning with a home run off UCF starter Ben Vespi.

Matt Cedarburg's two-run homer in the seventh put the Knights ahead for the first time with a 6-5 lead in the seventh inning.

OSU's Tyler Wulfert doubled home Forsythe in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie it up one more time.

AJ Nessler's RBI single gave UCF the lead for good in the top of the 10th.
