Oklahoma man who shot a woman for stealing his swastika flag blames Antifa

Alexander Feaster is using the Antifa defense to explain why he allegedly shot an unarmed woman in the back as she was attempting to take down one of the swastika banners from outside his home.

In a court motion published by the Smoking Gun, a lawyer for the 46-year-old man paints a scenario in which Feaster, sitting in his home with an AR-15, believed 27-year-old Kyndal McVey was the first wave of an attack from an anti-fascist collective that posed a threat to him. After the victim grabbed one of his flags, he opened fire as she was running away, striking her several times non-fatally.

Feaster claims he’d received a “tipoff of an imminent Antifa attack on his home,” then set up a lookout post inside his house when he saw a group of people gathering on his neighbor’s property.

McVey had been attending a birthday party across the street from Feaster’s home when she attempted to tear down and take the fascist flag around 2:30 a.m.

“She ran across the street, ripped his flag down that was affixed to his home, and retreated back to the shadowy figures across the street,” the court filing claims. “Mr. Feaster, believing he was under attack, exited his front door and used defensive force on McVey and also acted to deter others from similar conduct or using deadly force.”

Merriam-Webster defines Antifa as “a person or group actively opposing fascism.”

Some right-wing pundits and activists have claimed, without evidence, that Antifa was involved in the violent Jan. 6 uprising at the U.S. Capitol meant to stop the certification of the 2020 presidential election. A bi-partisan commission is being assembled to investigate that day’s violence.

Feaster describes himself as a “patriotic citizen” loyal to the United States.
