Oklahoma basketball coach Porter Moser says there's 'nothing true' to DePaul rumors

Porter Moser isn't planning on going anywhere.

The OU men's basketball head coach was asked Monday about his name being connected to an opening at DePaul. And while it would present an opportunity for Moser to return to his home state of Illinois, he adamantly shut down the rumor.

"I haven't talked to anybody," Moser said. "I'm not even thinking about anything. I'm just absolutely not even engaging in anything like that, 100 percent. ... All rumor mill fodder. Nothing, nothing true."

DePaul fired head coach Tony Stubblefield after a 3-15 start. He went 28-54 with the Blue Demons.

Matt Brady, who resigned for "personal reasons" months into his tenure as an OU assistant coach under Moser in 2022, is serving as DePaul's interim coach.

Moser is seeing results in his third season with OU.

The Sooners went a combined 34-33 (12-24 Big 12) and didn't make an NCAA Tournament appearance in his first two seasons. But they're off to an 18-6 (6-5 Big 12) start this time around, and they're ranked No. 25 in the latest AP poll.

"I'm so excited about where we're at with the team," Moser said. "This is everything we've tried to build for, is being in this position."

Next up for OU is a road game against No. 12 Baylor at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
