OKC-based 'I've Had It' podcast features Vice President Kamala Harris in latest episode

Hosts of the Oklahoma City-based podcast "I've Had It" took their petty grievances to the White House in the show's most recent episode where U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris shared what she's "had it" with.

"I've Had It" hosts Jennifer Welch and Angie "Pumps" Sullivan discussed heavily debated political issues, like reproductive rights and representation for women in politics, but also pressed Harris on annoyances every human experiences, like counterproductive group chats and people who take their shoes off on airplanes.

"At the end of the day, although [Harris] is the first female vice president, she's still a human who's had all of the same human experiences that all of us have, so we thought that was a really fun way to relate with her while talking about really serious issues that face our country," Welch told The Oklahoman.

Jennifer Welch and Angie Sullivan, hosts of the Oklahoma City-based podcast "I've Had It", interviewed Vice President Kamala Harris during the show's April 9 episode.

Spoiler: The vice president is not a fan of bare feet on airplanes.

In the podcast, Welch and Sullivan spoke specifically about the political landscape in Oklahoma how the Republican supermajority in the state legislature influences conservative policies, like strict bans on abortion.

"I wanted to take that opportunity on it on a national stage, to highlight that these policies when you see them played out, don't fare well for their citizens but we're all still here," Welch said. "There are people in this state that care about these things, and I think that a lot of people that might live on the coast think that everybody in a red state all believe the same way and obviously that's not the way it is."

Sullivan said she and Welch have a cynical sense of humor, and that it's a bonding experience to share grievances with people, but they still use their platform to bring awareness to issues that affect women and marginalized groups.

It was a relief to personally speak with a politician who has thoughtful views on policy, Welch said.

"To see a politician that is just so measured and smart, and actually cares about the policies that affect all people, not just people on the Democratic side, it was a breath of fresh air," Welch said. "We have a lot of serious discussions on our podcast, but we also temper that with relatable things that irritate everybody."

Welch called the experience the peak of her life, and while it might be difficult for the podcast to top its experience at the White House, the pair will continue releasing episodes and providing a platform for marginalized voices.

"We're gonna continue to crank out episodes and build a community and try to make people laugh, but also try to highlight areas that maybe need enlightenment among the general public," Welch said.
