OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital earns ENERGY STAR certification
OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star certification for superior energy performance.
Recognition is earned by significant energy savings and reflects OhioHealth’s dedication towards reducing its environmental footprint. OhioHealth Mansfield is the state's second hospital to earn recognition.
Energy Star is the only energy efficiency certification in the United States based on actual, verified energy performance. Hospitals that receive this certification are verified to perform in the top 25% of buildings nationwide, based on weather-normalized source energy use that takes into account occupancy, hours of operation and other key metrics.
“We’re honored to earn the ENERGY STAR for superior energy performance at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital and appreciate the efforts of everyone who has been involved in its efficient operation,” said Mansfield Hospital President Dr. Curt Gingrich. “Saving energy is just one of the ways we show our community we care, and that we’re committed to doing our part to protect the environment and public health, both today and for future generations.”
Gingrich credits the success to Mansfield Hospital’s facilities team and to its construction team for considering operational efficiency as part of their construction efforts.
Mansfield Hospital also installed new electric vehicle charging stations that support efforts to reduce tailpipe emissions and encourage associates and visitors to go all-electric. All of this work aligns with OhioHealth’s Climate Pledge to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030, a stepping-stone to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
