Ohio State quarterback commit Quinn Ewers has entered rare territory as a recruit. It is exceedingly rare for any player to hit a perfect 1.000 score on 247Sports‘ composite recruiting rankings.

The composite rolls in rankings from 247, Rivals, and ESPN to make an average score for the industry. There is almost always some differences, even minor ones, near the top of these rankings. However, Ewers is universally seen as the No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class.

As a result, he joins a truly elite group of former recruits. Before Ewers, only Jadeveon Clowney, Robert Nkemdiche, Rashan Gary, Vince Young, and Ernie Sims have had that 1.000 score, dating back to the year 2000.

The Southlake Carroll standout has been stacking accolades the last few years. He was the Texas District 5-6A MVP last year as a sophomore, and was MaxPreps’ National Sophomore of the Year. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram named him their male athlete of the year.

In 2019, Ewers threw for 4,003 yards, 45 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. He’s also a very good athlete, rushing for 568 yards and nine scores.

Quinn Ewers made waves in late October, when he decommitted from Texas after just a few months. Weeks later, he gave his pledge to Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes, a huge blow to former OSU offensive coordinator Tom Herman.

Day has been incredibly impressive in developing quarterbacks at Ohio State. With Ewers, he may have his best yet, which is scary to think given how good his current signal caller, Justin Fields, has been.
