The OHSAA district high school softball tournament is underway and Greater Akron will have a busy Tuesday afternoon and early evening with several teams in action throughout the region, including at historic Firestone Stadium.

Copley softball gets run-rule win over Cloverleaf in district semifinal

In the fifth inning with the bases loades, Copley's Jayce Collins hit a sacrifice fly to score Morgan Beach and give Copley a 11-1 win via the run rule.

The win sets up an all Suburban League American Conference district final Thursday at Firestone Stadium, as Copley will face defending state champion Tallmadge.

Copley leads Cloverleaf 10-1 after four innings at Firestone Stadium

Copley's Jayce Collins, Caroline Deagan and Addy Stewart hit three singles in a row with one out. Stewart's hit brought in Collins and Deagan scored on a throwing error.

Cloverleaf scored in the fourth when Katelyn Lanigan singled in Aubrey Willig.

Manchester softball unable to rally as Tuslaw wins district semifinal

Manchester lost a heart breaker 4-3 in a district semifinal at Wellington, as the Mustangs 3-run seventh inning was too much to overcome. Manchester finishes the season with 20 wins, while Tuslaw advances to the district final Thursday at Welllington vs. Hillsdale.

Down to its final three outs, Tuslaw responded with three runs in the top of the seventh inning. Manchester trails 4-3 heading into the bottom of the seventh.

Copley softball takes control early in district semifinal with Cloverleaf

Copley scored six runs in the bottom of the second inning and added two runs in the third inning to lead Cloverleaf 8-0 at Firestone Stadium.

In the second, Allison Martz singled in Caroline Deagan, Morgan Beach singled in courtesy runner Lexi Saris, Sydney Leach singled in courtesy runner Madison Maxwell, Beach scored on a wild pitch and Jayce Collins lined a double that brought in Leach and Alexis Walker.

Copley's third inning featured a Stella Kaplack single that plated Addy Stewart and a Beach groundout that scored Scarlett Backus.

Hodgkinson's homer gives Manchester softball late lead over Tuslaw

Alli Hodgkinson chose a good time to smack a two-run home run. She hit a bomb to center in the bottom of the sixth that plated Saige Rankin and gave the Panthers a 3-1 lead heading into the seventh.

Northwest hangs on to wins district semifinal over Coventry softball

A 1-2-3 seventh inning closed out a 4-2 win for Northwest over Coventry. Northwest faces Buckeye Thursday, looking to win its first district title since 2018.

Coventry pitcher Madi Burkhart went the distance, giving up 4 runs (3 earned) on three hits with 6 walks and 10 strikeouts.

Northwest retakes lead on Coventry softball in sixth

Lola Bleakley hit a two-run single in the top of the sixth inning to give Northwest the lead again at 4-2. Winner of this game plays Buckeye Thursday at 5 p.m. at Willig Park.

Coventry softball ties Northwest heading into fourth inning

Coventry made it 2-2 in the bottom of the fourth when Ava Burkhart scored on a throwing error. Lola Bleakley got Northwest's first hit on an infield single in the fifth, but was caught stealing.

Manchester softball tied with Tuslaw after one inning

After two innings in Wellington, Manchester is tied 1-1 with Tuslaw. Rachel Baker hit an RBI single in the bottom of the first to plate Alli Hodgkinson.

Coventry softball strikes back vs. Northwest

Coventry cut Northwest's lead to 2-1 after two innings. The Comets' Kendra Wilcox hit a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the second.

Comets pitcher Madi Burkhart has six strikeouts and gave up no hits threw two innings.

Northwest softball takes early lead over Coventry at Willig Park

Northwest took a 2-0 lead over Coventry in the top of the first. Kelsi DeFrank scored on a wild pitch for Northwest, while Caroline Metzger would score on a throwing error. Coventry is coming to bat.

Coventry-Northwest, Manchester-Tuslaw softball set to start soon

Coventry vs. Northwest and Manchester vs. Tuslaw each start at 5, at Canton's Willig Fields and Wellington Rec Park, respectively.

Looking ahead to Wednesday's OHSAA softball district finals

Two Summit County teams will play for district championships on Wednesday — Walsh Jesuit and Revere, both in Division I.

Walsh and Lake meet in a district final at 5 in Massillon. Walsh is unbeaten (20-0) and ranked No. 1 in the state by the coaches association. Revere plays North Ridgeville in a district final at 5 p.m. Wednesday at North Ridgeville. Revere has gotten hot at the right time, as it's No. 22 seed with just a 10-13 record.

Cloverleaf vs. Copley softball start time moved back 45 minutes

The Cloverleaf vs. Copley district final at Firestone Stadium will start at 5:45 p.m., 45 minutes later than the scheduled time.

Buckeye beats Norton softball 1-0 in district semifinal

Buckeye ended Norton's postseason run with a 1-0 win. The Bucks advanced to the district final for the first time since 2015.

Buckeye ace Lilly Young pitched a one-hit shutout, striking out 13 batters. Norton's lone hit came from a double from Landry Antal in the fourth inning.

Buckeye's Bella Millilo hit a two-out RBI single in the fourth to score the game's lone run.

Tallmadge softball gets 11-1 win over Streetsboro to reach district final

Tallmadge scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to beat Streetsboro 11-1 via the run rule.

Katie Huth singled and pinch runner Brooke Moore scored on a throwing error to start the five-run inning. Lexi Gray singled in Marissa Charton, Leila Staszak lined a double that scored Aubrey Almond and Gray and Ashlyn Severns singled in Sydney Becks.

Gray finished with three singles, three RBIs and three runs.

Staszak totaled two doubles, a single and three RBIs. Marissa Charton and Aubrey Almond both finished with two singles and two runs.

Tallmadge ace Riley Jackson pitched into the fifth inning and allowed one hit, two walks and hit two batters before being relieved by Larissa Taylor.

Streetsboro's Cortney Evert walked in the top of the fith and pinch runner Jaime Graves scored a run on an infield single by Olivia Knepper. Olivia DeToro had Streetsboro's first hit in the third inning.

Tallmadge will face the winner of the Copley-Cloverleaf district semifinal. First pitch is at 5:45 p.m.

Reigning state champion Tallmadge leads Streetsboro 6-0 after four innings as Marissa Charton, Aubrey Almond and Lexi Gray each scored in the fourth. Gray singled in Charton, Almond scored on a throwing error and Leila Staszak singled in Gray.

Buckeye breaks deadlock as Norton softball breaks up no-hitter

Norton got its first base runner in nthe fourth inning when Landry Antal hit a two-out double. She was left on base.

Buckeye took the lead when Bella Millilo hit a two-out RBI single, making it 1-0 Bucks after four innings.

Defending state softball champ Tallmadge takes early lead on Streetsboro

Tallmadge leads 3-0 in the second inning at Firestone Stadium. Payton Almond doubled and scored on a throwing error and Lexi Gray singled in Katie Huth.

Blue Devils ace Riley Jackson allowed a hit in the top of the third inning.

Tallmadge took a 1-0 lead in the first when Gray scored on a throwing error after Sydney Becks laid down a bunt single.

Norton and Buckeye scoreless after two innings

Game one at Willig Park is tied at 0-0 after two innings. Norton has yet to reach base as Buckeye pitcher Lilly Young has struck out all six Panthers she has faced.
