2023 Ohio high school football teams seeking undefeated 16-0 seasons

Five teams arrive in Canton looking to finish off an unbeaten season by becoming a state champion. At least one of those five is guaranteed to go 16-0 with one matchup featuring a battle of 15-0 teams.

Each day of the finals features at least one of the 15-0 teams. Here's a look at who is looking for a perfect season, in addition to a state title:

  • No. 1 Massillon in Division II on Thursday night

  • No. 1 Toledo Central Catholic in Division III on Friday afternoon

  • No. 1 Maria Stein Marion Local in Division VII on Saturday morning

  • No. 1 Perry and No. 2 Liberty Center in Division V on Saturday afternoon

Last year, Marion Local and South Range each went 16-0. Glenville finished the season 15-0 with its title.

In 2021, Chardon and Marion Local became the first Ohio high school football teams to finish a season 16-0.

While not seeking perfection, Springfield is trying to go from a 5-5 team in the regular season to a state champion in Division I when it meets No. 1 St. Edward on Friday night. The two have played for the D-1 state title the last three years.
