The Ohio Express is headliner at Battle of Bands competition Saturday at Appleseed Center

There's a free music show Saturday at the Appleseed Center.

"Rockin' Local First! Battle of the Bands Live Competition" is set for 2-6 p.m. outside on a large stage.

Parking is free.

The event is presented by The Ohio Express and Burgess Music Company and sponsored by Appleseed Center, Finderz Keeperz & Burgess Music Emporium.

Jeff Burgess, founder and CEO of Burgess Music Company, is the event organizer and a band member of The Ohio Express that will be the headliner.

The Lexington-Mansfield band, The Ohio Express, scored five Top 40 hits in the 1960s.

Local bands Jody Odom, Jr., James Deaton & The Good News Singers, and the Joe Richard Bandwill perform as the opening acts.

Competition judges are Tim Corwin, founding member of The Ohio Express, Jeff Burgess and master of ceremonies John Clairmonte.

They will present the $500 grand prize and trophy to the winning band on stage. The event production company is Brian Kozicki Events.
