Officials search for 2 missing men in Wascott

Oct. 30—WASCOTT — A search is underway for two men reported missing on the Minong flowage in the town of Wascott, according to a news release from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities from the sheriff's office, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Gordon and Wascott Volunteer Fire Departments and Sawyer County were reportedly on the scene in Wascott on Monday, Oct. 30.

The two men went out in a canoe sometime Saturday, Oct. 28 and were reported missing to the sheriff's office at 12:46 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 after family members located their capsized canoe. A search with drones and personnel on the water continued throughout the day Sunday until dark and resumed Monday morning.

Authorities said they expect to release more information when it becomes available.
