The OfferUp 8: The Most Confusing Things for Sale I Saw This Week
Baby Boomboxes and More
The rush of firing up OfferUp in Asheville, North Carolina, where I live, will never get old. There's just so much stuff for sale in the wastelands of OfferUp that I don't think I'll ever get sick of perusing.
I can't keep these beauties to myself, either. Here's this week's edition of the OfferUp 8, where I showcase eight of the most head-scratching items I see.
A Mtn Dew… Cooler?
$20
I would imagine that only the Dewiest of Dew-heads need this in their life. It’s categorized as "restaurant equipment," which makes me wonder just how big this cooler actually is. The shape alone baffles me; not sure I’ve ever seen a cooler that shape in my entire life.
An Arthur Court Collection That Doesn’t Know Its Audience
$850
$850 for a dinner set that looks like it belongs in a mall window display feels like a major swing. I can’t imagine anybody with $850 to blow shopping on OfferUp. And they certainly don’t want this insanely over-the-top dinner set.
A Definitely Not-Haunted Jack-in-the-Box
$25
Such a hard pass on this one. This thing’s from the 70s, apparently. No way, dude. No way.
On second thought, maybe this belongs in our roundup of the creepiest things for sale online.
Well-Photographed Resin Cat Drawer Handles
$25
I see that these are drawer handles, but at first glance, this looked like a tiny army of bears marching across a table. That only makes slightly less sense than the actual item itself, to be perfectly honest. Maybe on the next round of photos we hit the camera lens with a Clorox wipe, eh?

This $250 Empty Box
$250
Obviously, this is a cool vintage item with Nintendo art all over it, but the fact remains: It’s an empty box. You can buy yourself a much cheaper wooden box and throw some stickers on it, if you want. Us Cheapists don't spend $250 on empty boxes.

A Custom Starbucks Snow Globe Cup
$25
Looks like the Etsy-verse has hit OfferUp. Somebody’s glitter canon needs a night off after the artistry behind this custom snow globe cup.
A Tiny Fisher Price Boombox
$10
This is a great toy for any young Cusack-in-training who might be standing outside of his crush's window blasting some Peter Gabriel. Get ‘em started on the boombox love early.
An Ant-Man Popcorn Bucket
$40
I can’t believe this thing even exists. I also can’t believe somebody would pay $40 for an Ant-Man helmet you can’t even stick your head inside.
