Oak Ridge church to hold "Lessons and Carols" service Sunday; RSVP for meal

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Oak Ridge will host "Advent Lessons and Carols" at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17.

This traditional Anglican service presents nine lessons from the Old and New Testaments, preparing people for the Christmas season, according to a news release from the local church. The St. Stephen's choir is led by Director of Music Simon Ballintoy. They recently traveled to London in July. The service will feature Advent hymns, anthems and carols, including music arrangements by David Wilcocks (former director of Kings College, Cambridge) Philip Stopford, Michael Colloton and others.

More information can be found on the St. Stephen's website at www.ststephensor.org. A catered dinner from Take Out Thyme will be held afterward. Reservations are required and can be made on the St. Stephen's website. The cost is $15 per person or $45 a family. The deadline for reservations is Thursday, Dec. 14.
