An Oak Creek Police officer was taken to the hospital after a highway collision Monday.

An Oak Creek Police officer was transported to a hospital after being rear-ended while driving on Interstate 94 Monday evening.

The crash occurred at 7:21 p.m. May 6 near Drexel Avenue, according to the Oak Creek Police Department. The on-duty officer was able to alert dispatch he'd been involved in an accident.

The officer was taken to a local hospital for evaluation, police said. The other driver is cooperating with the investigation, they added.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash.

Oak Creek Police declined to immediately release more information.
