NYPD cop from Putnam Valley, 25, dies in Orange County crash

An off-duty New York City police officer from Putnam Valley was killed Friday evening in a single-car crash in Orange County, state police said.

Juliana Torsiello, 25, crashed her 2008 BMW at about 5:50 p.m. as she headed east on County Road 51 in the hamlet of Campbell Hall in the town of Hamptonburgh.

State police said she apparently lost control on a curve between Blough and Ridge roads. The car left the road and flipped over, trapping Torsiello inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Torsiello joined the NYPD in December 2021 and was working in the 30th Precinct in West Harlem.
