Nyamer Diew enters transfer portal. Doesn't rule out continuing to play

Nyamer Diew’s collegiate career may not be finished after all.

Diew, a constant contributor for the Iowa State women's basketball team the past three seasons, confirmed she’s entered the transfer portal and hasn’t ruled out playing again.

“Intending to look at every option I’m given,” Diew wrote in a text message to The Register Friday night.

The former Sioux City East High School star had already participated in Iowa State’s senior day festivities. She’s leaving the door open on using the extra season of eligibility awarded by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Diew, a 6-foot-2 forward, began her college career at Butler before transferring to Iowa State. She’s 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest across 107 career games at the two schools. Diew made 44 starts in college including 19 with Iowa State.

She was instrumental in Iowa State’s run to a Big 12 Tournament title during the 2022-23 sesaon, scoring 19 points in her team’s win over Oklahoma in the semifinals.

Iowa State guard Shantavia Dawkins and forward Jalynn Bristow also entered the transfer portal. Post player Izzi Zingaro, who left the team at the start of the season, also did earlier in the week.
