NY Mets, Cardinals announce lineups for Wednesday series finale in St. Louis
The Mets (18-18, 4th in NL East) look for their second sweep of the season when they play the Cardinals (15-21, last in NL Central) Wednesday afternoon at Busch Stadium.
WEATHER DELAY: Mets vs Cardinals game delayed Wednesday due to weather forecast in St. Louis
After getting off on the wrong foot to start its six-game road trip (swept by the Rays), New York is looking for its first road series sweep of the season.
On Tuesday night, the Mets used a six-run fifth inning to rally from an early 3-0 deficit, taking home a 7-5 victory in St. Louis to move back to .500 on the year.
Following Wednesday's game, the Mets will play 10 straight games against National League East opponents -- five at home versus the Braves and Phillies and five on the road against the Phillies and Marlins -- before heading to Cleveland to face the Guardians in a three-game series that begins on May 20.
For New York, Jose Quintana takes the bump for his eighth start of the season. The 35-year-old southpaw got shelled his last time out, surrendering a season-high in hits (10) and earned runs (8) in only 2 2/3 innings in New York's 10-8 loss in Tampa on May 3.
In seven appearances against the Cardinals in his career, Quintana has a 3-3 record with a 3.78 ERA. This includes last year where he earned his first win in a Mets' uniform in a 4-2 victory at Busch Stadium last August.
