NY Jets vs. Las Vegas Raiders predictions: Our expert Week 10 NFL picks for Sunday night

The New York Jets (4-4, third in AFC East) will look to get back on track in Week 10 when they travel to take on the Las Vegas Raiders (4-5, third in AFC West) on Sunday night at Allegiant Stadium.

The Jets are coming off one of their worst performances of the season in a 27-6 loss to the Los Angeles Charges on Monday night in the Meadowlands.

Meanwhile, the Raiders dominated the Giants from start to finish in a 30-6 victory just days after firing their head coach and general manager.

Our prognosticators are: Art Stapleton (Giants/NFL writer, NorthJersey.com), Bert Bainbridge (sports betting analyst/columnist, NorthJersey.com), Steve Edelson (columnist, APP.com), Vince Mercogliano (Rangers/NHL columnist, lohud.com), Brian Marron (digital producer, NorthJersey.com), Chris Iseman (Rutgers writer, NorthJersey.com), Dave Rivera (sports editor, USA Today Northeast/NorthJersey.com) and Bob Jordan (sports editor, Asbury Park Press/APP.com).

Here are our staff picks for this Week 10 contest on "Sunday Night Football" for the Jets versus Raiders:

Art Stapleton

The first-game emotional boost from Antonio Pierce taking over as interim coach was there for the Raiders, who buried the Giants. Now comes the letdown, if the Jets play their cards right. Zach Wilson is going to have a better game this week. It's Robert Saleh's job this week to turn all that negativity from an uninspiring performance on "Monday Night Football" against the Chargers. I think the Jets respond here.

The pick: Jets 27, Raiders 17

Bert Bainbridge

Nothing went right for the Jets last Monday night against the Chargers. Now facing a Raiders team that's riding high off of interim head coach Antonio Pierce, I believe the Jets keep this one close but ultimately fall just short in Las Vegas on Sunday evening.

The pick: Raiders 20, Jets 17

Vince Mercogliano

Last week's abysmal offensive showing against the Chargers didn't inspire much confidence, with costly penalties, drops and mental mistakes among the most alarming trends. Another performance like that and head coach Robert Saleh will have to consider a QB change. On the other hand, the Jets' defense is playing an elite level and should feast on rookie QB Aidan O'Connell.

The pick: Jets 16, Raiders 10

Dave Rivera

Robert Saleh is taking a lot of heat for sticking with Zach Wilson at quarterback, but he's sticking with his young starter here. Yes, we can blame Wilson all we want, but every other player on that offense is responsible too. We know the defense will come to play, but can the offense get it together. It'll be a close one in Vegas.

The pick: Raiders 20, Jets 16

Brian Marron

With Zach Wilson at the helm, it is painfully obvious that the Jets can only win games with their outstanding defense. This matchup may allow for that to happen.

The Raiders were able to dismantle the Giants last week, but that appears to be an outlier during a season in which they've score at least 20 points only twice. Entering with rookie Aidan O'Connell at quarterback, the Raiders have the sixth-worst scoring offense and third-worst total offense per game in the NFL.

Sitting a game back of a playoff spot in a loaded AFC, the Jets face a possible season-defining game on Sunday. It definitely won't be pretty, but Gang Green should be able to do enough to grind out a close win.

The pick: Jets 13, Raiders 9

Chris Iseman

I thought the Giants were going to beat the Raiders last week, but we know how that pick went (Hint: Not well). The optimist in me says Zach Wilson has a solid bounce-back performance and the Jets' defense again plays at an elite level. The pessimist in me says this is Zach Wilson and the Jets we're talking about. The Raiders seem to be playing hard for Antonio Pierce. Yes, sometimes that type of lift only lasts one game but I think Las Vegas will keep it going for at least one more.

The pick: Raiders 17, Jets 14

Steve Edelson

The Jets have a top-5 defense but are never going to be able to take advantage of it with quarterback Zach Wilson, ranked near the bottom of virtually every major statistical category.

The pick: Raiders 21, Jets 7
