NY Giants pick Minnesota safety Tyler Nubin in Round 2 of NFL Draft 2024. Our scouting report

EAST RUTHERFORD - The Giants have added a potential replacement for Xavier McKinney to their secondary.

Big Blue selected Minnesota safety Tyler Nubin with the 47th pick in Friday night's second round. The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder has great range and playmaking instincts, and will be a four-down player with special teams contributions.

Here is the scouting report from The Athletic's Dane Brugler on the 22-year-old Nubin, who was the first safety drafted this season.

"A cornerback-turned-safety, he led the Gophers in interceptions in each of the last four seasons and collected his 13th career interception in his final home game, which set a new school record," Brugler wrote. "Using his athleticism and awareness, Nubin keeps everything in front of him and can drive off the numbers in the deep half tooverlap the seam or track and finish from the post. As an alley defender, he is fearless but controlled, and he comes to balance with low pads to finish tackles with authority."
