Dementia Man: An Existential Journey

This one-man play is the autobiographical story of Samuel Simon, who faces his diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease as he explores the struggle of a broken medical system and a personal and family tragedy. The performance will be followed by a talk-back session featuring Mr. Simon, Daisy Lopez-Duke, LCPC, and other local experts. Hosted by the Frederick County Division of Aging and Independence. Frederick County Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association's Cash Bingo

Doors open at 4:30 p.m., Dinner is at 5 p.m. and games start at 6:30 p.m. Admission includes dinner and the following games: 1 U Pick Um paying $500, 12 regular games paying $150, 4 specials paying $200, Jackpot paying $1,000. My Choices: Planning Ahead

This presentation will explain important planning documents such as wills, advance directives, and power of attorney forms — all of which ensure that a person's wishes are properly carried out at the end of their life. The presentation will include an overview of each planning document, including a review of sample documents that individuals can fill out on their own. Kiwanis Club of Mount Airy Fall Pancake Breakfast

This all-you-care-to-eat breakfast fundraiser includes pancakes (regular, chocolate chip and blueberry), eggs (cooked to order), Wagner Meats sausage, and beverages. The proceeds will benefit local community service projects. Bring a nonperishable food or toiletry item to donate to the Mount Airy Net Food Pantry. Santa will be visiting during the breakfast! $10 adults, $5 ages 5 to 10.

Groceries for Seniors

A free monthly distribution of seasonal produce, canned goods, and shelf stable products in a farmers market style setting. A free box lunch to the first 100 seniors. Additional resources and information. All Frederick County residents age 60+ with an income below $1,600 per month are eligible to participate. Please bring a photo ID to register the first time. Groceries for Seniors is offered on the third Friday of each month. Don't forget your reusable shopping bag. Offered through Frederick County Division of Aging and Independence. Art of Fire Day Trip

Make a glass ornament! You pick the color, design and texture, and then you will participate in its creation by adding your own energy and handiwork under the guidance of highly trained glassblowers. Art of Fire is a world class state-of-the-art glassblowing studio located in a renovated dairy barn in northern Montgomery County. The glass makers use heat, centrifugal force, gravity and physics to create a myriad of shapes and forms. Note: This is an interactive activity. It will be hot, and you will have to wait for other participants to complete their ornaments. Closed-toe shoes are required. Don't forget your camera! $75, pre-register.
