Nottingham: Police watchdog probe after two hurt in bike crash

The police watchdog is investigating after two men were seriously hurt in a crash following a pursuit.

Nottinghamshire Police said an off-road bike was seen being ridden dangerously after it was spotted in Carlton Hill, Nottingham, at 15:53 BST on Monday.

After losing sight of the bike, it was reported it had been involved in a crash with a motorbike, the force said.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is now investigating the circumstances of the police pursuit.

Police said after officers initially saw the orange KTM off-road bike in Carlton Hill, it was later spotted in the Church Street area of Basford.

The force said officers followed the bike to Bracknell Crescent, in Whitemoor, but it was not seen after.

A short time later, it was reported the bike had been involved in a crash with a blue Yamaha motorbike in Broxtowe Lane, Broxtowe.

The 24-year-old off-road rider and 67-year-old motorcyclist were both taken to hospital with serious injuries.

In line with standard procedure, Nottinghamshire Police said it has now referred itself to the IOPC, and the force's serious collision investigation unit is also investigating.

Anyone who witnessed or has dashcam footage of the crash, or either of the bikes being ridden before the crash has been asked to contact the force.
