Notre Dame wins all-Peoria IHSA girls soccer sectional championship championship
WASHINGTON — Peoria Notre Dame is a sectional soccer champion once again.
The Irish defeated city rival Richwoods 1-0 on Saturday to win the Class 2A Washington Sectional, the Irish program's 22nd title at this level and second in a row.

PND (23-1-1), ranked No. 1 in 2A by MaxPreps, advances to face New Lenox Providence at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Kankakee Supersectional. The winner there advances to the IHSA state finals next weekend at North Central College in Naperville.
Richwoods (21-4-1) tied a school record for wins and played in its first sectional championship since 2005-06, when the Knights also lost to Notre Dame in the two-class format. Richwoods this season won its first regional title since the three-class split in 2008-09 and defeated Morton in the sectional semifinals.
