Notable performances by Erie County athletes: April 29-May 4

The Erie Times-News has run a weekly list of notable performances by Erie County athletes throughout District 10's spring sports season.

That feature will continue into May and conclude with PIAA tournaments that are scheduled over Memorial Day weekend.

The county's top athletes for this week are:

Baseball

Carson Stevens, Girard: He pitched a four-hitter and struck out 12 for the YellowJackets when they beat the rival Northwestern Wildcats 8-1.

Andrew Costello, Cathedral Prep: He scored four runs, one of them on his home run, and helped the Ramblers rally for a four-run seventh inning in an 11-8 victory at Meadville.

R.J. Hawkins, Erie High: He was the winning pitcher for the Royals when they edged Warren 2-1.

Jayden Hadlock, Iroquois: His five RBIs helped the Braves beat the Eisenhower Knights 17-7.

Klayton Komisarski, Seneca: His home run was part of a three-hit, three-RBI performance at the plate for the Bobcats, who defeated North East 6-5.

Nick Hamilton, McDowell: He starred as a pitcher (one-hit shutout) and hitter (home run) when the Trojans blanked General McLane 8-0.

Adam Milam, Fairview: He contributed a two-run home run to the Tigers’ 5-3, eight-inning victory at Harbor Creek.

Softball

Olivia Hall, Northwestern: She recorded three doubles for the Wildcats when they beat the Girard YellowJackets 13-3.

Sydney Wittman, North East: Her mammoth 18-strikeout performance highlighted the Grapepickers’ 9-0 victory vs. the Mercyhurst Prep Lakers.

Madison Simmerman, Cathedral Prep: She hit one of the Ramblers' three home runs and totaled three RBIs during their 13-1, six-inning victory at Union City.

Brooklynn Cipalla, Harbor Creek: She went 2-for-2 and scored three runs as the leadoff batter for the Huskies when they blanked Seneca 10-0 in six innings.

Boys tennis

Jonah Ng, Cathedral Prep: The Ramblers’ No. 1 singles starter was a victor in straight sets during their 5-0 home victory vs. New York’s Canisius High School.

Girls lacrosse

Niagara Millen, Cathedral Prep: Her six goals accounted for half of the offense when the Ramblers defeated Meadville 12-2.
