Let’s face it, even in Texas, we’re not all football fanatics.

Yes, it’s true.

Although autumn seems synonymous with the NFL and college football, we have plenty of other sports options to keep us interested in the coming months.

Whether it’s basketball, hockey, monster trucks or bull riding, North Texas has you covered over the next football-inundated months.

Here’s a look at just some of the options for sports fans looking for a pigskin respite.

Texas Motor Speedway

Texas Motor Speedway hosts its final two races of the NASCAR season on Sept. 24-25 with the Andy’s Frozen Custard 300 and the Autotrader Echopark Automotive 500. Both the NASCAR Xfinity and Cup Series will compete on the 1.5 mile speedway with drivers looking to advance in NASCAR’s Playoffs.

LPGA tournament in The Colony

Some of the world’s great female golfers come to North Texas Sep 29–Oct 2 for the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout at Old American Golf Club in The Colony. The purse on the line is $1.5 million.

Rangers season finale

The season might be toast for the Texas Rangers, but it’s likely still to feel like the postseason when they host the New York Yankees in the final regular-season series at Globe Life Field Oct. 3-5. The Yankees are likely to still be fighting for the American League’s best record. The Rangers could be deciding whether manager Chris Woodward is coming back.

Ariat Texas Rattlers

Fort Worth’s first-ever professional bull-riding team the Ariat Texas Rattlers debut at Dickies Arena Oct. 7-9. The team will keep in the inaugural 2022 PBR Team Series. Visit the Dickies Arena website for ticket information.

Motor Sports at AT&T Stadium

The most action-packed motorsports experience for families in the world today returns to Arlington for an adrenaline-charged event at AT&T Stadium on October 15, 2022. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Monster Jam features world-class athletes locked in intense competitions of speed and skill.

Dallas Stars return in September

The Stars, with new coach Peter DeBoer, hit the ice for a preseason game against the St. Louis Blues at 7 p.m. Sept. 22 at American Airlines Center. The regular season opener is Oct. 13 at Nashville and the teams meet again two days later in the Stars’ home opener Oct. 15.

Dallas Mavericks tip-off

The Mavericks, who are coming off their best season in 10 years after reaching the Western Conference Finals, begin their preseason Oct. 5 at Oklahoma City and their first home game at American Airlines Center is set for 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 against the Orlando Magic.

FC Dallas closes regular season

FC Dallas hosts Kansas City at Toyota Stadium in Frisco at 4 p.m. Oct. 9 in the club’s regular-season finale. Tickets are available on the FC Dallas website.

TCU men’s basketball

The Horned Frogs start the 2022-23 season with four consecutive home games at Schollmaier Arena, beginning with Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Nov. 7. TCU also hosts Lamar (Nov. 11), Northwestern State (Nov. 14), and Louisiana-Monroe (Nov. 17). TCU is coming off it’s first NCAA tournament win in 35 years as coach Jamie Dixon starts his seventh season.

Hot Wheels Monster Trucks at Dickies Arena

Dickies Arena is hosting the first-ever Hot Wheels Monster Tucks Live Glow Party on Nov. 12-13. There will be three shows over the two days, including 12:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 and 2:30 p.m. Nov. 13. Hot Wheels monster truck toys, including Mega Wrex, Tiger Shark and Bigfoot, will light up in the dark during “outrageous” battles, according to the press release. Your inner 8-year-old will love it.
