Northamptonshire have signed fast bowler Siddarth Kaul for their next three County Championship matches.

The 33-year-old from Punjab has played three ODIs and three T20s for India and has taken 284 first-class wickets at an average of 26.

He has replaced Australian Chris Tremain after a four-game stay and could come straight into the Northants side to play Gloucestershire on Friday.

“I’m confident that I will bring my positive mindset and experience to help my team-mates,” Kaul told the club website.

Head coach John Sadler said: "Sid has a lot of experience with the ball, he’s played a lot of first-class cricket and is keen to make a big impact when he joins the squad.”

Kaul has played 83 first-class matches since making his debut in 2007 and played two ODIs in England on India's 2018 tour.

He is also set to play for Northants against Derbyshire and Yorkshire before the T20 Blast begins on 30 May.

Northants have drawn all four of their Division Two matches so far this season, taking just 32 wickets of a possible 80.
