North DeSoto’s Lady Griffins dominate the 2024 All-District 1-4A softball team
After sweeping through District 1-4A without a blemish, the North DeSoto softball team placed 10 players on the league’s 2024 All-District team, which was selected by the league coaches.
The group was headed by North DeSoto pitcher Laney Johnson, a Louisiana Tech signee, who was tabbed as the Most Valuable Player. Johnson boasted a 21-4 record as a pitcher with a 1.473 ERA and 193 strikeouts. Opponents hit .186 against her. She also hit .411 with 15 home runs and 38 RBIs.
Griffins coach Tim Whitman was named Coach of the Year after guiding his team to within one game of the LHSAA Non-Select Division II state championship, which would have been the school’s fourth straight. North DeSoto finished 30-5 overall.
