The Miami Hurricanes won’t host the Vermont Catamounts as originally scheduled Wednesday after weather elsewhere in the United States forced the game to be canceled Tuesday.

The game will not be rescheduled. Individual-game ticket holders will receive a full refund and season ticket holders will get a prorated credit to be applied to future purchases. They can also request a refund by emailing canestix@miami.edu.

Vermont is facing the same issue so many across the country have faced this week: Winter storms are making it impossible for the Catamounts to get a flight to Florida.

Snow is the forecast Tuesday in Burlington, Vermont, and has been for large parts of the northern US for most of the last few days. More than 6,000 flights were canceled across the country Monday and Tuesday.

No. 14 Miami was scheduled to host the Catamounts at 8 p.m. at the Watsco Center in Coral Gables. It was supposed to be the Hurricanes’ first game since last Tuesday, when they upset the then-No. 6 Virginia Cavaliers, 66-64, in South Florida.

Miami (12-1, 3-0 Atlantic Coast)) rose from No. 22 into the top 15 of the AP poll Monday following its best win of the season. No. 14 is the Hurricanes’ best ranking since 2017 and it’s their first time in the top 15 since 2018.

Miami now won’t play again until Friday, when they resume ACC play on the road against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after a 10-day layoff. Vermont was supposed to be the Hurricanes’ final nonconference opponent of the regular season, meaning the meat of Miami’s schedule is now here.

The Hurricanes will also now go more than three weeks without a home game, as they also face the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Atlanta next week. Miami will finally returns home the following week to host the Boston College Eagles.
