No. 1 Saint Joseph girls tennis sweeps Northern Indiana Conference Meet

The top-ranked Saint Joseph girls tennis team won championships in all five events — three singles and two doubles — to win the Northern Indiana Conference meet at Leeper Park Thursday afternoon.

The Huskies outdistanced Penn, 65-53, for the team title while Bremen edged out New Prairie, 41-40 for third place.

Molly Bellia won at No. 1 singles for Saint Joe, followed by teammates Ashi Amalnathan at No. 2 singles and Anni Amalnathan at No. 3 singles. The Saint Joseph doubles teams of Danni Graham and Libby Yergler (No. 1) and Anna Walsh and Ella Michaels (No. 2) completed the sweep for the Huskies.

Team scores: Saint Joseph 65, Penn 53, Bremen 41, New Prairie 40, Elkhart 34, Marian 31, Adams 30, Riley 27, Glenn 23, Jimtown 22, Washington 11, Clay 7.

DOUBLES: 1. Dani Graham-Libby Yergler (SJ) beat Clarissa Schmitt-Scarlett Biever (P); 2. Anna Walsh-Ella Michaels (SJ) beat Maren Woelfer-Ava Derby (P), 6-1, 6-3.
