NJ native Greg Olsen would have interest in Panthers' head coach gig if asked, report says

From the gridiron, to the booth and now to Carolina Panthers head coach?

That could be in the cards for former Wayne Hills High School star and current NFL on FOX broadcaster Greg Olsen.

The Athletic reported on Monday evening that Olsen would have interest in Carolina's current vacancy if approached, according to sources close to the former Panthers' tight end.

While he doesn't have any coaching experience at the collegiate or professional level, there's no denying the former first round pick would be a fan favorite after spending nine seasons with the organization as their franchise tight end in Charlotte from 2011-19.

Olsen: Inside Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olsen's rise from North Jersey to NFL broadcasting stardom

Olsen has been a full-time color commentator for FOX Sports since 2021 and was on call for Super Bowl 57 between the Eagles and Chiefs this past February, alongside play-by-play analyst Kevin Burkhardt, who's also a North Jersey native from Bloomfield.

If there's serious interest from Panthers' owner David Tepper to bring in Olsen as the next head coach, he'd join a list of former players such as DeMeco Ryans (Texans), Mike Vrabel (Titans), Antonio Pierce (Raiders), Dan Campbell (Lions) and others that made the transition to head coach in the NFL.
