Nina Dobrev And Shaun White May Be The Cutest Couple On Instagram

Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev and boyfriend Olympic snowboarder Shaun White are one of the world's best quarantine-made couples.
The pair went Instagram official in April 2020, and it's been happily ever after since.
No, seriously. Peruse either of their social media accounts and you'll seen plenty of adorable couple's content.
As if they couldn't get any cuter, the pair is having a pretty big month professionally, too. Nina's movie, The Out-Laws, hit Netflix on June 30, and it's kind of a must-watch.
Meanwhile, Shaun has a documentary series of his own on Max: The Last Run, which dives into his career as an Olympic athlete. They even did a super cute promo collab of both projects on Instagram:
Basically, these two are total couple goals, but when exactly did their romance start? Here's Nina Dobrev and Shaun White's full relationship timeline:
2019: They have an adorable meet cute.
While they had crossed paths before, Shaun and Nina officially met at a Tony Robbins workshop in 2019, where they were both giving presentations, according to PEOPLE. At the time, Shaun admitted he didn't really know Nina. "I actually didn't know anything about her," he told PEOPLE.
Apparently, the pair entered a crowded restaurant and Nina was able to secure a table with her Vampire Diaries status. Initially, Shaun thought she may have used his Olympic athlete credibility, but was thrown off when the staff asked for pictures with Nina. "I was like, 'What's happening? What's going on?' It was actually really funny," Shaun told PEOPLE.
Soon after, the pair started dating.
February 2020: Shaun visits Nina on set.
While they weren't officially dating quite yet, Nina reportedly invited Shaun to visit her on location while filming Redeeming Love in South Africa. It was very low-key, but some fans spotted the similar locations in the stars' social media posts from that week.
Later, Shaun told US Weekly that this trip was kinda the impetus of their relationship.
"I was like, ‘All right. Yeah. OK.’ And she [thought], ‘Oh, this guy, he came to play. He’s serious.’ So that’s a thing that we share together. We both enjoy traveling,"
March 2020: Nina and Shaun are first spotted together.
At the end of March, when Los Angeles' stay-at-home order when into effect, the pair were spotted bike riding together in Malibu, along with Nina's dog. E! News reported they were "spending time together," but not officially dating.
"Nina and Shaun have been spending a lot of time together recently," a source told the publication. "Their relationship doesn't have an official title right now, but that's pretty normal for Nina."
The source added that Nina is a private person, and wouldn't share photos of a new beau until it's official: "She is very careful about posting photographs together because she wants to ease into things naturally and organically."
Mid-April 2020: They post a sneaky grocery-washing video.
A little less than a month later, Nina posted an IGTV video showing fans how to wash groceries during the COVID-19 pandemic, but instead of using her arms, she used Shaun's. As she narrates the hand-washing video, he washes the groceries, unscrews a bottle of juice, and tries to get her to drink it.
Some fans noticed Shaun’s tattoo, leading them to speculate that the pair quarantined together. (Everyone now knows they did.) “Usually I like to wash before I drink it, but sometimes you break the rules,” she said in the video.
Early May 2020: A source spills the relationship tea.
At the beginning of May 2020, a source close to the couple told PEOPLE that yes, they're dating. "Their friends were surprised at first about the relationship, but now that they’ve seen them together it actually makes a lot of sense," the source said. "They’re both goofy and have a similar sense of humor and are super adventurous. They have plenty in common." Awww!
May 2020: Nina and Shaun became Insta-official.
The couple made their relationship Instagram ~official~ with a self-quarantine haircut snap. The 31-year-old actress captioned the photo, "Adding to resume: hairdresser ✂️."
In the first pic, Nina flashes a pair of scissors while the 33-year-old snowboarder grimaces. In the next slide, she holds a pile of hair she cut off, which Shaun playfully side-eyes.
May 2020: The couple revealed that they lived together amid quarantine.
"Shaun and Nina have really been enjoying quarantining and living together," a source told Us Weekly. "They’re super compatible and both free-spirited people. They’re very comfortable around each other and both supportive of one another in their fields."
September 2020: Nina shares a sweet birthday post for Shaun.
Nina's first birthday post to Shaun in their relationship was pretty funny, and gives insight into how the pair joke in their relationship.
In her caption, she wrote "to the most untalented, humorless, least athletic, least coordinated, least gifted and my least favorite person.... happy birthday @shaunwhite."
December 2020: They celebrated the holidays together.
Nina showed up in a series of pics that Shaun shared on Instagram to celebrate the holidays. "Happy holidays everyone!" he wrote in the caption. Shaun didn’t mention Nina, but when you scroll to the last pic, she’s cozied up to Shaun in a collage of Polaroids, featuring a photo of the two of them wearing Santa hats.
"Did i see NINAAAAAAA," one fan wrote in the comments. "You and Nina make the cutest couple ever❤️," another said.
January 2021: Nina revealed that she and Shaun started dating earlier than previously thought.
The actress shared an Instagram of herself and Shaun celebrating New Year’s Eve... 2020. "How we thought 2020 would go 👉🏼👉🏼👉🏼 how it actually went," she wrote in the caption. While the couple were first spotted together in March 2020, this proves that they were a ~thing~ way back in January—if not earlier.
January 2021: They celebrated Nina’s birthday together.
Shaun shared an adorable series of pics of he and Nina goofing off together, while wearing '80s gear. "Too bad we never have any fun together...😉 Happy birthday baby! 🥂🎉" he wrote in the caption. Awwww!
February 2021: The couple make it to double date status.
Shortly after the couple hit what seemed to be the one year together mark, the pair went on a double date with former Vampire Diaries co-star Paul Wesley and his wife Ines De Ramon at Jackson Hole Resort in Wyoming.
Of course, the group did one of Shaun's favorite activities: snowboarding.
June 2021: Shaun shares the couple's first anniversary plans.
Shaun and Nina are a COVID couple, so their first anniversary was somewhat limited with pandemic restrictions. However, Shaun shared that he managed to recreate their first date to make their one year a little more special.
“I managed to sweet talk the owner of the place to open up for us. It was actually pretty fun to have a place all to ourselves,” he told US Weekly.
Shaun also mentioned that the couple did a lot of drive-in movies and snowboarding throughout the pandemic. Aww.
February 2022: Nina supports Shaun through retirement.
ICYDK, Shaun competed in his last Olympic games in Beijing in 2022. After placing fourth in his final run down the halfpipe, Nina posted a super sweet tribute to his career on her IG.
In the post, she called Shaun the G.O.A.T. in snowboarding, and in the boyfriend department. "Not to mention you are also the G.(B).O.A.T. = Greatest Boyfriend Of All Time 😉," she wrote. Later, Nina also threw what looks like the most fun retirement party ever. It looks like every guest was perhaps gifted a wig of Shaun's most iconic hairstyle. I love it!
May 2022: The couple is red carpet official.
Nina and Shaun walked their first red carpet as a couple for the UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick.
It seems Nina went to support her friend Miles Teller, per her supportive 'Gram about the event, but her ex Glen Powell also starred in the film.
Shaun also must've hit it off with Miles, as they recently attended a Dead and Company show together.
October 2022: The couple has a great Halloween costume.
Take a quick scroll through Nina's Instagram, and you'll know she's a massive Stranger Things fan. Case in point: she and Shaun had a Stranger Things-themed couples costume last year. Nina dressed as Vecna, the show's iconic monster villain, and Shaun dressed as Max Mayfield (which totally works considering his red hair).
This might be the most unique couples costume I've ever seen.
April 2023: Shaun doesn't feel pressured to propose.
In April, Shaun told PEOPLE that he and Nina are just enjoying their time together, without any pressure of marriage on the horizon.
"I told her, I was like, 'Look, after the Olympics, I finally got my freedom to do whatever. And let's just have fun and be together and support each other,'" he said.
However, it doesn't seem like a proposal is completely off the table. "You never know. We'll see what happens," Shaun also told PEOPLE.
June 2023: Shaun and Nina walk another red carpet.
Yup. Shaun and Nina looked very happy last month at the premiere for Nina's new Netflix movie The Out-Laws. Nina even admitted on the red carpet that Shaun helped her with her role. "Shaun helped me run lines for my audition," she told E! News.
IDK about you, but Shaun and Nina are officially my new fave celebrity couple. Here's to hoping for a proposal very soon.
