Late-Night Is Back! Return Dates Set for Jimmy Kimmel Live, Tonight Show, Last Week Tonight and More

Strike Force Five is striking back!

Just hours after the 148-day WGA strike was declared to be over, the aforementioned collective of late-night TV hosts announced return dates for their respective, long-dark programs.

CBS’ The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and NBC’s Late Night With Seth Meyers will all return with new episodes on Monday, Oct. 2, it was announced on social media, while HBO’s Last Week Tonight With John Oliver will kick off its new season this Sunday, Oct. 1.

As reported earlier today, HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher is poised to be the first late-nighter back from the strike, with a new episode airing this Friday.

Since late August, late-night front men Stephen ColbertJimmy FallonJimmy KimmelSeth Meyers and John Oliver have been co-hosting a podcast called Strike Force Five, offering “unique insights, opinions and humor to the show as they navigate the Hollywood strikes and beyond.” All proceeds from the podcast, which set out to produce at least 12 episodes, were earmarked for the out-of-work staff from the hosts’ respective shows.

Of course, the world changed a bit for Fallon during the WGA strike, after a Rolling Stone expose surfaced allegations of a toxic workplace at The Tonight Show. Fallon promptly offered a meek mea culpa in a Sept. 7 Zoom call with staff, saying, “Sorry if I embarrassed you and your family and friends… I feel so bad I can’t even tell you.”
