Nick Saban Reveals Alabama’s Vaccination Percentage

Alabama head coach Nick Saban has been working pretty hard to encourage vaccinations within the Crimson Tide football program. And the latest results that he’s unveiled show he’s done a pretty good job.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Saban announced that nearly 90-percent of the Alabama player roster has been vaccinated against COVID-19. That’s comfortably above the threshold needed to allow fans into Bryant-Denny Stadium for games in 2021.

The announcement comes at a pretty important time too. Earlier this month the SEC announced that teams that cannot play games due to COVID-19 will be made to forfeit games since rescheduling will not be an option.

The COVID-19 vaccine has become an uncomfortable topic for some athletes across the country. But if you thought that Nick Saban was about to let “personal feelings on vaccines” put him at risk for forfeiting games, then you need to reconsider how well you think you know the Alabama head coach.

Nick Saban has been one of the most proactive coaches in all of sports when it comes to encouraging vaccines. He’s been doing PSAs for months and had his entire coaching staff vaccinated over a month ago.

Last year Alabama didn’t see any games canceled, but did have to reschedule several due to COVID-19 outbreaks. They wound up playing the Iron Bowl on their regularly scheduled date, but then played LSU and Arkansas afterwards.

None of that stopped them from going undefeated en route to winning the national championship.

And under Nick Saban, Alabama are doing everything they can to mitigate COVID-19 risks again this year.

Now that’s great leadership.
