NFL World Reacts To Tony Dungy’s Brutally Honest Admission
Former NFL head coach turned NBC analyst Tony Dungy has made his opinion on Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool extremely clear.
Thursday night, Claypool wasted precious seconds by celebrating a first down catch, rather than getting up quick to spike the ball.
Pittsburgh was driving with no timeouts when Claypool caught a first-down pass. Rather than get up quick, he stayed on the ground, celebrating the first down.

that would have given the Steelers 1 more play… 1 more shot to tie it up

Former NFL head coach Tony Dungy reacted to the play on Twitter. It’s been compared to a play by legendary wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald.
“The difference between “a true pro” and “learning to be a pro”!” he tweeted.

Well said, coach.
“It’s really not fair to compare any player to Larry Fitzgerald, because he was a perfect professional since the day he was drafted. He really is the Gold Standard,” one fan tweeted.
“Exactly coach, all the hate on Chase for this is crazy. Yes, it was dumb. But he’s still a kid, give him room to learn and grow,” another fan admitted.
Dungy added that there is an adjustment from college to the NFL.
Yes. Most players learn that early. But in college the clock stops while they reset the chains. Hence you have a little time to “celebrate” a 1st down in college. Not in the NFL.

Still, Claypool has to know better. Hopefully he won’t make the same mistake twice.
