After a few days of speculation, it’s now official. Tom Brady has retired from the NFL after spending 22 seasons in the pros.

Brady announced his retirement on Instagram in a heartfelt post. He said he reflected on his career and all his accomplishments.

“I’ve done a lot of reflecting the past week and have asked myself difficult questions. And I am so proud of what we have achieved,” Brady said. “My teammates, coaches, fellow competitors, and fans deserve deserve 100% of me, but right now, it’s best I leave the field of play to the next generation of dedicated and committed athletes.”

This couldn’t have been an easy decision for Brady, but at least he walks out on a relatively high note. After all, NFL fans never watched him have a bad season.

Now that Brady’s retirement is official, the NFL world is honoring the most decorated quarterback of all time.

“When Tom Brady won his first Super Bowl in his second NFL season, he was the youngest starting QB to ever win a Super Bowl,” ESPN’s Field Yates said. “When Tom Brady won his last Super Bowl in his second-to-last season, he was the oldest starting QB to ever win a Super Bowl. Greatness start-to-finish.”

Here are some other reactions to the news:

Brady’s résumé features seven Super Bowl rings, five Super Bowl MVPs, three regular season MVPs, and 15 Pro Bowl appearances. He’s also the all-time leader in passing yards and passing touchdowns.

We’ll most likely never see a career like this ever again.
