Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich has been linked to the Jacksonville Jaguars’ head coaching vacancy for the past few weeks. It’s possible a deal could materialize in the coming days, but the latest report is a tad concerning.

According to Chris Porter of First Coast News, the Jaguars have not yet hired Leftwich because he apparently wants Trent Baalke out as the general manager.

Porter added that Leftwich would like Adrian Wilson of the Arizona Cardinals to take over as the general manager for the Jaguars.

Source tells me that Byron Leftwich is the Jaguars pick but the hold up is over who will have control of the roster,” Porter said. “Leftwich wants Trent Baalke out and the Jaguars to hire Adrian Wilson who is the Vice President of pro scouting with Cardinals.”

Although this would be a significant move on Leftwich’s part, he has the NFL world’s support.

“That’s what I’m talking about Byron,” one fan tweeted. “Create the change.”

“How’s there hold up over that? Do it,” another fan said. “Why does Trent have this much pull over Shad and why is his job the top priority? You mean to tell me the Vice President of pro scouting for what was one of the top teams in the league hasn’t done more homework on the draft than Baalke?”

Clearly, the Jaguars’ fan base wants the team to choose Leftwich over Baalke.

The Jaguars’ decision to keep Baalke for the 2022 season rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way. If they choose him over Leftwich, there will be outrage in Jacksonville.

Leftwich, who played for the Jaguars nearly two decades ago, would be an exciting hire for the franchise.
