Richard Sherman might be on the verge of joining an NFL roster.

The 33-year-old defensive back remains a free agent, though that probably won’t be the case for very long. Sherman, a five-time Pro Bowler, has reportedly been receiving calls from multiple NFL teams heading into Week 2.

NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero reports that Sherman expects to play in 2021. He could be on the verge of signing with a team.

Multiple NFL teams have reached out in recent days to five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Richard Sherman, who has been undergoing therapy since a July arrest.

Sherman is back to his old Seattle playing weight of 195 pounds and expects to be on the field at some point in 2021.

Among the teams that reached out: Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers are dealing with some injuries in the secondary.

The 49ers have also been linked to Sherman. Few teams, if any, have dealt with more injuries than San Francisco.

Kyle Shanahan recently admitted that he’s spoken with Sherman.

Sherman is past his prime, but the veteran cornerback could still be a nice add for a contending team.

The Bucs might make the most sense of any team.

Sherm isn’t it what he was but he could be a steady veteran presence in the Bucs secondary if he’s got his head straight. I’d consider it if I were them, depending on the severity of Davis’ hamstring injury,” one fan tweeted.

“NFL teams are so predictable: once Week One passes, no longer paying vested veterans full salary, they suddenly become interested,” former NFL executive Andrew Brandt added.

It sounds like Sherman could find a new home before Week 3. It will be interesting to see where the veteran cornerback lands.
