NFL World Reacts To Sunday Deshaun Watson Trade Rumors
Another day, another notable Deshaun Watson trade rumor.
While the Houston Texans star quarterback isn’t expected to play on Sunday – or anytime soon – he remains the subject of NFL headlines. Watson, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by more than 20 women, continues to want out of Houston.
The Texans would probably like to move on from Watson, as well. However, the AFC South franchise won’t be doing that unless they get a haul back.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Sunday that the Texans’ asking price for Watson remains very high.

Whether the package consisted of one player and five draft picks or two players and four picks, the Texans were unwilling to budge from their trade price for Watson, who remains on their roster even though he will not be active for Sunday’s season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Texans do not plan to play Watson at all this season, but sources around the league believe that Houston general manager Nick Caserio will not trade the three-time Pro Bowler for anything less than the six combined players and picks.
Watson is a great player. But NFL fans are skeptical of the Texans’ ability to get a haul back for him due to his legal situation.
“Texans clearly have no intention on trading him. The ask is deliberately outlandish to screw with him out of spite? Otherwise, why not trade him? Get what you can and move on. Let him be someone else’s headache. This entire ordeal is fishy,” one fan tweeted.
“No GM in their right mind would trade for him until his situation is a lot more clear. This is only a story because he’s a great QB, any other position and he and his story would be on the back burner,” another fan added.
According to a report from Pro Football Talk, one team has already “balked” at the price.
The Texans and Dolphins were reportedly discussing a Watson trade. However, Miami backed off when Houston refused to lower its asking price.
So, yes, a trade was moving toward happening. Ultimately, the Texans refused to reduce their demands to reflect the uncertainty that certainly hovers over Watson — especially with the possibility that he’ll be placed on paid leave if he’s traded and prepares to start playing.
Watson will likely remain on the Houston roster throughout the 2021 season, but he likely will not be playing.
It will be interesting to see where he ends up in 2022.
