The last 24 hours have been rough for Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore given his hand in their playoff elimination. But in the short term, it doesn’t appear to be hurting his job prospects.

On Monday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that Moore is still expected to interview for the Denver Broncos head coaching job this week. Though whether his playcalling against the 49ers keeps him from getting the Broncos job – or any other – may remain a mystery.

Two days ago Kellen Moore seemed like a lock to get a head coaching job this year. Or at least be at the front of the line for head coaching jobs next year. But after his offense could score just 17 points against the 49ers and that dreadful final play of the game, it looks like his stock has tanked.

Fans of the Cowboys and other NFL teams seem shocked that Moore is still getting interviews. Some believe that his gameplan yesterday will be a topic during his remaining talks with teams:

Kellen Moore’s tenure on the Dallas Cowboys coaching staff predates Mike McCarthy’s arrival in 2020. He has built a reputation for being a QB guru thanks to his incredible work with Dak Prescott over the past few years.

Young QB gurus are in high demand these days as we’ve seen from the success of Matt LaFleur, Kyle Shanahan, Kliff Kingsbury and Sean McVay. There’s a lot of things to like about Kellen Moore as a potential head coach.

But the play he called in the final moments of last night’s game have to call his decision-making ability to question. We’ll find out in the weeks to come whether he needs to spend another year rebuilding that reputation.

Will Kellen Moore get a head coaching job this year?
