NFL World Reacts To Monday’s Big Vikings News

Black Monday is in full force as organizations are already starting to make changes.

The Vikings were one of the first teams to announce their firings as both head coach Mike Zimmer and general manager Rick Spielman are out.

Zimmer had been the head coach since 2014 and had done great with the Vikings, but they’ve fallen short of expectations the last few years. The Vikings have missed the playoffs in three of the last four seasons and their only playoff win during that time was in overtime against the Saints.

Spielman had been the GM for the last decade as he was one of the longest-tenured GMs in the league.

The NFL world wasn’t surprised by this news when it leaked out on Monday morning.

Minnesota finished this season at 8-9 following its 31-17 win over Chicago on Sunday. The Vikings were down 14-3 at halftime before outscoring the Bears 28-3 in the second half.

That contest also coincided with quarterback Kirk Cousins having his best game of the season. He finished with 250 yards through the air along with three touchdowns.

It ultimately wasn’t enough to keep Spielman and Zimmer in Minnesota as there will be a new era of Vikings football next season.
