NFL World Reacts To The Ezekiel Elliott Injury News

On Wednesday afternoon, Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy met with the media.

During the press conference, he made headlines with a comment about running back Ezekiel Elliott. McCarthy said Elliott suffered a torn PCL in his knee in Week 4 against the Carolina Panthers.

“Mike McCarthy said Ezekiel Elliott played with a torn PCL since the Carolina game in Week 4,” Cowboys reporter Jon Machota said. “McCarthy expects Elliott to be completely healthy and ready to go for the start of next season.”

Fans were furious with McCarthy following the admission. They want to know why the team didn’t rest Elliott so he could get healthy at some point during the season.

“So why not rest him at any point after that?!” one fan asked.

“The fact they let this man play injured and not rest him up is criminal. Having Pollard as the back up and still not resting Zeke is just plain stupid,” one fan said.

“The most times that Ezekiel Elliott carried the ball was against the New York Giants in Week 5 (21 carries). Literally one week after when Mike McCarthy says Zeke partially tore his PCL. He never had more than 87 yards rushing in a game after that (Week 18 at Philadelphia),” analyst RJ Ochoa pointed out.

Elliott was clearly hampered during the 2021 season and could have used a break.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys, he’ll get one earlier than they hoped following the team’s first round playoff exit.
