Former Chicago Bears offensive lineman Olin Kreutz was fired from CHGO Sports on Monday for allegedly attacking a co-worker.

CHGO Sports released a statement on this incident involving Kreutz. The employee who was attacked by Kreutz is apparently OK.

“On Monday morning, an incident occurred in which Olin Kreutz physically attacked a CHGO employee,” CHGO Sports’ statement read. “Effective immediately, Olin Kreutz is no longer with CHGO. Although we were shocked by the incident, we are thankful that the employee is OK. The health and safety of our employees is of the utmost importance and we will not tolerate any action that puts that in jeopardy.”

Kreutz responded to CHGO Sports’ statement with a quote that says, “Social media made y’all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it.”

Kreutz, a six-time Pro Bowler, was on the Bears from 1998-2010 before joining the Saints in 2011.

For the most part, NFL fans agree with CHGO Sports’ decision to part ways with Kreutz.

“Tough guys don’t attack lesser people, cowards do,” one fan said.

“Attacking someone at work over words (or in general) is literally never okay. It’s really that simple,” another fan said.

Outside of the quote that Kreutz posted, he has not released an official statement on this matter.

This isn’t the first time Kreutz has been at the center of a physical altercation. In 2011, he inadvertently threw Drew Brees against a wall after having a confrontation with Saints offensive line coach Aaron Kromer.
