NFL training camp 2022 tracker: Titans give Derrick Henry a raise, make him highest-paid RB in 2022

Derrick Henry will be the highest-paid running back in 2022 after the Tennessee Titans gave him a $2 million salary bump for this season, according to multiple reports.

The Titans restructured Henry's contract by moving $2 million from his 2023 salary into his 2022 salary, turned $9 million into a signing bonus and added two void years at the end of his contract, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Now, Henry's contract will be worth $10.5 in 2023 – which is also the final year of his deal and sets him up for another extension either after this season or after next season.

It's an intriguing move for the Titans that gives them more options in the future depending on how Henry performs this year. He's coming off of a season-crippling foot injury that cost him nine games in 2021 but where he still managed almost 1,000 yards on the ground and 10 touchdowns in the first half of the year. He played in the Titans' lone postseason game but managed just 62 yards on 20 carries with one touchdown in the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Divisional Round.

Henry, 28, led the NFL in rushing attempts, rushing yards and rushing touchdowns during the 2019 and 2020 seasons and leads the league in all three statistics since 2018.
