Most of the concerns about Dak Prescott’s ankle injury are gone, but there are plenty of Dallas Cowboys fans worried about his recent shoulder injury.

On Wednesday, the Cowboys announced that Prescott will undergo a precautionary MRI on his shoulder this weekend. The team tried to downplay the news, but that didn’t work.

With the regular season roughly a month away, the NFL world wants to know if Prescott will be ready for Week 1. Thankfully, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler had an encouraging update on Prescott to share with his followers this Friday.

Fowler ultimately believes Prescott’s shoulder injury will not linger much longer.

“After asking around throughout camp, I sense zero concern that Prescott’s shoulder issue will linger,” Fowler wrote, via ESPN. “As of Tuesday, the team was evaluating whether to play Prescott a series or two in the second preseason game Aug. 21 against Houston. This would be Prescott’s first game action since Oct. 11, when he injured his now-surgically repaired ankle.”

Even though Prescott’s shoulder is trending in the right direction, there’s no guarantee he’ll suit up in the preseason. Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones addressed that possibility on Tuesday.

“I know people worry about that, but I think that’s overrated,” Jones said, via Todd Archer of ESPN. “Dak Prescott knows how to play the game of football and whether he plays a series or two in Houston isn’t going to affect how he’s going to play against Tampa Bay.”

The Cowboys will begin the regular season on Sept. 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As of now, there’s no reason to think Prescott won’t be ready for that matchup.
