Aaron Rodgers isn’t the only star player on the Green Bay Packers whose contract negotiations appear to be going south. On Friday, NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport had a significant update on Davante Adams’ contract situation.

Rapoport is reporting that Adams and the Packers broke off long-term extension talks. As of now, there are no plans to resume those talks.

It’s not just Aaron Rodgers: The Packers and star WR Davante Adams have broken off long-term extension talks,” Rapoport tweeted. “There are no current plans to resume them. The two sides have been negotiating for months, but they are now in a bad place, sources say. First the QB, now the No. 1 WR.”

This is odd considering Adams just had an incredible season for the Packers. He finished 2020 with 115 receptions for 1,374 yards and 18 touchdowns.

We’d imagine Adams wants to be one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL. This means he’d make well over $20 million per season.

Last month, Adams addressed his future with the Packers in an interview with Evan Webeck of Mercury News.

“I’m a Packer, so I can’t really get too far ahead on that,” Adams said. “When the season ends and if nothing’s figured out, then maybe we’ll have something to talk about.”

If Adams hits the open market next offseason, he’ll have plenty of suitors lining up for him.
