NFL Draft. It was real, Detroit. When will it ever come to Miami?

MIAMI GARDENS — Ain’t too proud to beg?

Detroit just threw a major bash, attracting hundreds of thousands for the NFL Draft. Fans danced to Motown tunes. Fans partied. Fans celebrated the Hall of Famers their team obviously just drafted.

All of which raises the question: When is Miami’s turn? Does South Florida have to beg? What becomes of the broken hearted?

Green Bay is getting the next NFL draft. We know Miami always has its eye on hosting the Super Bowl, but we haven’t heard a buzz about bringing the draft to South Florida, too.

But think about the possibilities. Put the draft at Hard Rock Stadium. First-rounders can exit the green room, give Roger Goodell a bearhug, then celebrate by zipping a lap around the Formula 1 track with Max Verstappen (who’ll be here anyway for the Miami Grand Prix). Tyreek Hill, eat your heart out.

Or: Put the draft on the beach. On the sand. Matter of fact, put teams on the clock using sand dripping through an hourglass. Have South Beach’s art deco district as a backdrop. What could be more Miami?

VIPs? Pitbull could perform (we haven’t contacted his people; we’re just volunteering Mr. 305’s services). DJ Khaled would be there, because he’s everywhere.

Announcing the picks: Members of the 1972 Dolphins. Dwayne Johnson. Dan Marino.

And to give the NFL an offer it can’t refuse, a special football-playing guest could announce the first overall pick: Lionel Messi.

Anybody second that emotion?
