NFL betting preview: Mike Evans, Davante Adams, CeeDee Lamb highlight receiving props
Receiver contracts blew up across the NFL this offseason, and for good reason. There's more focus on the passing game than ever, and you need talented receivers to thrive.
That also means there's more focus than ever on receivers. There are 65 offerings for receiving yardage totals at BetMGM, along with reception over/unders and props on who will lead the NFL in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.
Our Yahoo Sportsbook team takes a look at our favorite receiving prop bets going into the season:
MARK DRUMHELLER: Mike Evans under 1,024.5. Offensive line injuries are forcing the Bucs to rely on a center/guard combo with only 31 career snaps. If Brady is getting heat up the middle, it will be more quick passing and less Evans. This is now juiced to -130, so the market is with us.
NICK BROMBERG: I’m all over Davante Adams at +850 to lead the league in receptions. He’s the No. 2 favorite behind Cooper Kupp in this prop but his odds are over twice as long as Kupp’s. Adams is the best receiver Derek Carr has had in the NFL and I expect Carr to look for his Fresno State teammate early and often.
PETER TRUSZKOWSKI: Brandin Cooks to go over 949.5 receiving yards. He’s been quarterback-proof over his career and reached 1000 yards in 6 of his 7 healthy seasons. Who’s stealing targets from him on this offense?
GREG BRAINOS: I don’t mind taking a shot on CeeDee Lamb to lead the league in receptions at +1600. The Cowboys have ranked sixth, second, and second in offensive plays under offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and their receiving options outside of Lamb this year are thinner than papyrus.
FRANK SCHWAB: My two biggest hits last season were unders on Denzel Mims and Breshad Perriman. You don’t need to bet the big names to profit. So while I like the over on Cooper Kupp, I’ll take one that isn’t as sexy for my best bet: Mike Gesicki under 574.5 yards. The Miami Dolphins tight end doesn’t seem like he fits in new coach Mike McDaniel’s offense, and his volume was already going to take a dip with Tyreek Hill around to suck up targets. There were trade rumors about Gesicki that the team denied, but the fact that the rumors were even out there highlights that Gesicki could be an odd man out in the offense. And if Gesicki is traded before the deadline, it's not the easiest thing to change teams in the middle of a season.
